Our reputation as given a boost some years ago when Her Majesty the Queen was opening St Luke's Hospice Kenton and came across the Heriot Cake. Her Majesty's reaction on seeing the cake was: "What a Splendid cake it seems such a shame to cut it".

Of course – what we know is that it also tasted pretty good, as the 250 guests at the opening did not hold back.
